There are more than 12 million gallons of
waste vegetable oil (WVO) thrown out each year in the
Houston area alone. This waste product could make more than
10 million gallons of clean, domestic biodiesel fuel.
The United States produces more than 3 billion gallons of
waste vegetable oil (WVO) annually, mainly from industrial
deep fryers in potato processing plants, snack food
factories and fast food restaurants. If all those 3 billion
gallons could be collected and used to replace the energy
equivalent amount of petroleum (an ideal case), almost 1% of
US oil consumption could be offset.
This is the first of many steps to cleaning up our air and
becoming free of foreign oil.
